The Upligting Trio, 2020
In ancient Asian tradition, the Year of the Rat, rats are symbols of wealth in an overflowing manner.
The 3 rat musicians: a guitar, saxophone, and piano players brought a wealth of joy & uplifted the spirits of those visiting the sculptures during COVID.
The central theme of the piece is that ‘MUSIC & MUSICIANS are a great example of human wealth. Through their inclusive collaborations, musicians continue uniting people powerfully.
Las Mañanitas in Westwood, Denver, Colorado, 2019
‘Las Mañanitas' is a well-known song sung by the people of México. This is the most popular song Mexicanos sing as a birthday wish, and it is been part of the Mexican tradition since the early 1900s. Many Latin American countries have acquired this song as theirs since it is a lovely poetic metaphor for birthday celebrations.
The lyrics imply the joy of birth or as I am interpreting: the joy of new beginnings.
'The mural has 10 suns surrounded by 9 trees. These 9 trees symbolize values shared by Mexicans and those that should be shared by all residents toward Mexicans and other immigrants.
The 9 values (nine trees) are: 1. Love, 2. Peace, 3. Gratitude, 4. Strength, 5. Understanding, 6. Equity, 7. Humility, 8. Compassion, and 9. Forgiveness.
Creating 10 suns implied having a fresh start, as every new day offers that. This is my 'prayer' for the Mexican community to continue blooming and to grow wonderfully. To continue being a living example of resilience with grace.

Installation, Denver, Colorado 2018
This altar was dedicated to our female ancestors, who despite their challenges and creating scars in their hearts, turned their passionate light on for us. And through their perseverance, paved a better way for our entire sisterhood.
Abuelas, thank you for sharing your stories.
I was Born Grateful to Be a Woman!
I know my abuela passed this to me
And all the other women before her, too.
Those whose bodies were made from water, air, and earth, and with the flavorfullness of aromas and colors, yes, all of them too.
Lifetime after lifetime, each created the best experiences for women she never met.
